Magnolia Bakery has a big tub of the stuff and kind of slaps it in a cup, lunch lady style, to serve it to you. Here’s our picture of us eating it on the streets of New York. We were able to taste this Magnolia Bakery Banana Pudding Recipe not once but twice in our stay there. We ordered a couple other treats but hands down the banana pudding was the winner. So when we recently went to New York and visited the Magnolia Bakery we had to get what they are known for…their Famous Banana Pudding. So we order whatever they’re known for and then something else we eye on the menu. I’ve waited tables enough to know that some of the secret gems aren’t always popular yet. Then I usually ask the waiter what their personal favorite is. If tons of people continually come back for the same thing, chances are it’s worth it. Whenever we’re traveling and checking out the local eats, I always ask the waiter what they’re known for. When we go to a restaurant, ideally we would love to order one of everything but budget consciousness usually limits us to one or two choices. The life of a food blogger is really weird. It’s heaven and one of our favorite desserts. This classic dessert has layers of creamy vanilla pudding, bananas, and a layer of vanilla wafers. Baked cookies keep in an airtight container for 5 days, or so I've heard.Magnolia Bakery Banana Pudding – this is the ACTUAL banana pudding recipe from their cookbook. The dough can be made ahead and stored, tightly wrapped in plastic, up to 1 week in the fridge, or 1 month in the freezer. Let cool slightly before transferring the cookies you don't eat immediately to a wire rack to cool. Bake until the edges are just beginning to get golden brown, 12 to 15 minutes. Arrange cookie slices on prepared baking sheets 1 inch apart (they don't spread much) and sprinkle each with a few flakes of sea salt. You're going to hit some chocolate chunks, so saw gently, squeezing the cookie to keep it from breaking if needed. Using a sharp serrated knife, cut logs into 1/2-inch-thick rounds. Sprinkle the coarse sugar on the open wrapping and roll the logs into it, coating them. Lightly beat the egg and unwrap the chilled cookie logs to brush it over the sides. Line 1 or 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper. When you're ready to bake the cookies, heat the oven to 350 degrees F. I hastened this along in the freezer (30 minutes, tops) but did feel that the cookies were better after resting longer. (Mixture will look crumbly.)ĭivide dough between 2 sheets of parchment paper, waxed paper or plastic wrap and use your hands to form the dough halves into logs about 2 to 2 1/4 inches in diameter. Add chocolate chunks and mix just until incorporated. Beat the butter, granulated and brown sugars and vanilla with an electric mixer until light and fluffy, scraping down bowl as needed.
